Simulating cybersecurity attacks for a full day and the response of hundreds of women across America who will have to make informed decisions, take risks and solve different challenges are part of the complex exercise that the third version of Cyberwomen Challenge proposes.

The cybersecurity event is a competition conducted by the Organization of American States (OAS), Trend Micro Incorporated, Citi Foundation, the Government of Canada and the local governments of 8 countries on the continent. The training will take place on August 7, 2020.

Cyberwomen Challenge is a one-day technical online workshop, based on cybersecurity simulations and real scenarios with the guidance of an expert, focused on the adoption of new technologies where participants will have the opportunity to live the experience of a migration of applications to new technologies and will gain the experience of using security as code to facilitate the implementation of a new cybersecurity strategy.

Local governments, through their respective Telecommunications Ministries, will join the OAS and Trend Micro to help attendees improve their practical cybersecurity skills. Panama, Colombia, Mexico, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Argentina, Ecuador and Chile are the participating countries.

According to the OAS, cyber security is one of the main challenges for the countries of the hemisphere. The transnational nature of the threats faced by cybersecurity makes it a fundamental element of the global agenda of the countries. At the same time, cybersecurity incorporates challenges that are present in other professional fields, such as inclusion and diversity. Today women represent a small part of this sector, and it is everyone's responsibility to turn this situation around.
