Changing certain daily use products that generate long-term environmental damage for sustainable and biodegradable elements is an alternative that humanity must consider from now on.

Every day people use a large number of products on the market that are made of plastics or other materials, which when thrown away end up in natural ecosystems for hundreds of years, negatively impacting nature and all the species that comprise it. In this way, the world has begun to be damaged by overproduction in industry and excessive consumerism by human beings.

According to the Aquae foundation, every second approximately 200 kilos of plastic garbage is thrown into the oceans around the world. If seen up close this number would be terrifying for anyone. According to the report of this foundation, 70% of all the plastic that is dumped in the seas ends up in the depths and 15% remains on the surface of the water. Consequently, there are about one hundred thousand marine animals that die each year from this problem. While another 700 species are threatened by this solid waste.

How to mitigate the environmental impact due to plastic?

To reduce the amount of plastic that is consumed and discarded from everyday life, the first thing to do is to focus on the habits that people have and how to replace them with alternatives that are friendly to nature and its species.

Here is a list of five environmentally friendly products that reduce pollution and its serious effects over time:

1. Bamboo Brushes

These bamboo toothbrushes are 100% biodegradable. They have become very popular recently but conventional plastic brushes are still used very frequently. However, using a bamboo brush significantly reduces the environmental impact.

2. Menstrual cup

Menstrual cups are very efficient and of great value to replace traditional tampons and sanitary pads in women. They are an excellent environmental alternative since these products are silicone-free and are characterized by being reusable and completely durable.

3. Reusable razor

 Opting for this type of product is respecting our environment as they are made of a high-quality metal that can last for years and only the blades would have to be changed.

4. Bamboo swabs

People regularly use small swabs to clean the wax from the ears. Most that we know of are made of plastic and once used they are thrown away. However, bamboo swabs are a better choice as they are 100% biodegradable.

5. Reusable thermos

Plastic containers are single-use products. For this reason, when someone buys bottled water, once consumed, the bottle should be thrown away, since it was not designed to be refilled. In addition, that the substances with which they are manufactured are harmful to human health. Therefore, purchasing a reusable thermos helps reduce plastic consumption.
