The month of May begins, and that means one thing: the guide to the most anticipated releases on streaming platforms is here. Do you want to see something based on real events? Are you looking for a dystopian series to vary the everyday? Do you fancy a documentary, or better a reality show? And it is that whether it is a miniseries, series or movie, in the coming days you will enjoy a variety of genres that will not even let you breathe. So, check out what will be the most interesting titles on Netflix, HBO Max, Apple TV, Disney +, Paramount + and Star +.

"White House Plumbers" (May 1 – HBO Max)

Everything indicates that crime and comedy will be the formula for the success of HBO Max for this month of May. This five-episode miniseries has David Mandel as showrunner and is produced by the same creators of "Succession." The story follows everyone involved in the famous Watergate case and the end of Richard Nixon's presidency, one of the events that marked the history of American politics. To what extent can it be considered an accident? The cast is led by Woody Harrelson, Justin Theroux, Lena Headey, Domhnall Gleeson, Judy Greer, Ike Barinholtz and Kiernan Shipka.

"Silo" (May 5 – Apple TV)

Apple TV continues to bet big with original productions, and for this occasion it was the science fiction genre that had its leading role. This dystopian future shows us a community living in an underground bunker after a catastrophe has made the surface uninhabitable. But who built that place and under what circumstances did people take refuge there? The intrigue and the need to know the truth could endanger the existence of the entire society. Rebecca Ferguson, Common, Iain Glen, Rashida Jones and Tim Robbins star in this production based on a saga of books of the same name by writer Hugh Howey.

"Queen Cleopatra" (May 10 – Netflix)

"It's more likely that Cleopatra resembled our actress than Elizabeth Taylor." In this way, Jada Pinkett Smith, executive producer of this documentary series, came out to defend her decision to have Adele James, a black actress, for the role of Queen Cleopatra and, in addition, to charge against the racist comments that arose in social media recently. The first season of this production will consist of four episodes in which we will follow the most powerful and misunderstood woman in the world since its inception, all of this with the contribution of expert voices on the subject.

"The Mother" (May 12 – Netflix)

The Latin touch in this month of May will be in charge of Jennifer López and Gael García Bernal. The Niki Caro-directed film is an action-packed thriller that promises to thrill everyone. The plot follows a hired assassin who must come out of hiding to face dangerous men, whom she will have to kill to protect her daughter that she gave up for adoption years ago. In addition to López and García Bernal, they also act Joseph Fiennes, Omari Hardwick, Paul Raci and Lucy Paez.

"The Family Stallone" (May 17 – Paramaount+)

To get out of the ordinary a bit, Paramount+ brings a reality show that will surely catch more than one person. At 76 years old, Sylvester Stallone has chosen to change his action scenes to dedicate himself more to his family and home. Here we will see that never-before-seen facet of the actor, while his wife Jennifer Flavin and their daughters Sophia, Sistine and Scarlet tell us how much weight the last name Stallone has these days.

"American Born Chinese" (May 24 – Disney+)

Oscar-winning duo Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan return with more action, adventure, and plenty of kung-fu. But it is worth mentioning that their participation will be in secondary roles, since this original Disney + story will have two young people (Ben Wang and Jimmy Liu) as the main protagonists. The story centers on Jin Wong, a teenager with a normal life until he meets the new student in high school and gets caught up in a mythological battle of Chinese gods. Among the directors of this production, Destin Daniel Cretton stands out, who was in charge of the film "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings."

"The Clearing" (May 24 – Disney+)

To close May you cannot miss another story inspired by real events. Drama, suspense and psychological thriller will take over the Disney+ screen when this adaptation of the novel "In the Clearing" by author JP Pomare, who was inspired by an Australian cult founded by Anne Hamilton-Byrne, arrives. During eight episodes, we will see how a woman will be forced to fight her nightmares and torments of the past to try to stop a secret cult that tries to gather children to carry out an evil plan. Miranda Otto, Teresa Palmer and Guy Pearce lead the cast of this production.
