Star Wars continues to expand its universe. Season 7 of one of the most famous and best-rated animated series of all was the one that culminated in this story, after several years of waiting. However, it was worth it, as, according to the specialized media Espinof, it is a "great season" that gives fans joy.
The Tomatazos website even mentions that critics consider that this story and that of The Mandalorian are among "the best rated in science fiction", since they delve into many details that had not been explored in the movies.
Knowing that this season meant the end of this story between Episode II and Episode III of the original story of the films, we decided to analyze the reasons that lead it to be one of the best plots in the universe created by George Lucas, which now it's in Disney's hands.
Why is season 7 of The Clone Wars great?
First, we must contextualize it. According to what the CNet website comments, the story had been canceled in 2014. However, in 2018 it was decided to give it a "proper closure" that came hand in hand with the announcement of Disney Plus.
Knowing that it is one of their franchise products, the opportunity to relive this animated story that fills the gap between Episode II and Episode III had to be done correctly … and that happened. In particular, the main thing that stands out to this story is the links that are generated with the movies.
Without having to alter the existing canon, here the main role is played by the figure of Ahsoka Tano, the apprentice of Anakin Skywalker. Such is her popularity that according to the Hipertextual website, she would have her own original series on the aforementioned platform.
So what we see is that, before these seasons, the story seemed to have a lot of padding. This happened because the conflict in the galaxy was enormous, with many planets being seen that had their own narrative lines, although many of them did not manage to contribute anything relevant to the plot. In other words, it seemed to be reduced to simple self-contained adventures that failed to fit in with what really mattered to us: the conflict between Jedi and Sith.

However, in this last stage, we can see that everything begins to change. With an increasingly darker tone, events are getting closer to the line of Episode III, something that the medium Hobby consoles considers a "fan service", but well done. So what we observe is that transcendent parallel stories appear, like the fight between Ahsoka Tano and the sith Darth Maul.
Reliving these events so fundamental to the history of the saga generates incredible emotion in the viewer. In the first place, because it is about events that marked a before and after in the movies, since it meant the fall of the Republic and the rise of the Empire … but that is not all.
In addition, another important gap is filled, which is that of the appearance of Ahsoka Tano in Rebels, another series in the franchise. For those who do not know, it is a story that takes place between Episode III and Episode IV, so, by then, the Jedi was still alive, although we did not know why. Therefore, it is appreciated that, instead of providing a simple combination of battles or stories that add nothing to the lore, they have opted to expand the universe and make sense of it in a fantastic and emotional way.
