Visiting one of the wealthiest cities of Brazil doesn’t mean you have to spend all of your savings trying to have a good time  

Sao Paulo is the largest city in South America; it offers many things to do. This concrete jungle is the wealthiest city in Brazil, but that doesn’t mean you have to break your piggy bank to explore it properly.

There are plenty of things you can do for free. Here are some:

Ibirapuera Park: The Ibirapuera Park first opened to the public in 1954 and has been an important landmark ever since; it’s the largest park in South America.

Spend the day walking around surrounded by trees, while watching street dancers or partaking in cultural events. There’s also a bicycle path and a fitness area, which is ideal for those who wish to work on their physic while on vacation.  This is the perfect place for you to pack snacks and have a picnic away from the busy city life, if you wish.

Paulista Avenue: Easy to get to using public transportation. It is located in the center of the city and it’s one of the busiest, longest avenues in Sao Paulo.

Everything happens here, from cafes, restaurants, movie theaters, cultural centers to your everyday shops. The perfect time to visit is on Sundays when the avenue is closed off to cars.

Augusta Street: After walking around in Paulista Avenue, head over to Augusta Street. This is the place where the night comes to life. You can find restaurants and bars; there is something for everyone’s taste and budget.

Sao Paulo Museum of Art: While you are walking around Paulista Avenue, head over to the Sao Paulo Museum of Art.

The museum first opened in 1968 and was created by the architect Lina Bo Bardi; it has artwork from all over the world. The building itself is a work of art and definitely a must see to all tourists. Sao Paulo Museum of Art has the largest collection of Latin American and European art; you can find artwork from Dali, Picasso, Van Gogh, and many more. There is free admission every Tuesday from 10 AM to 6 PM.

Municipal Market of Sao Paulo: The market is open to the public every day from 6AM to 6PM. This is a great place to indulge yourself with Sao Paulo’s delights; from Brazilian empanadas to coxinhas and pao de queijo.

There are more than 300 booths with different types of food that are free to sample. The mortadella sandwiches, packed with stacks of sliced mortadella ham and melted cheese are the most popular things to eat there.  

Sao Paulo is a great welcoming city that won’t disappoint you so get ready for great views and awesome food.
