Google reported in a statement that the new features of this new operating system focuses on seeking "digital well-being" in order to enjoy life more, reduce addiction, and achieve a balance between technology, work, and rest.

Sameer Samat, vice president of Android product, said that Artificial Intelligence (AI) allows this new operating system to understand and adapt to the needs of each user, giving a personalized and pleasant experience. Some of the features that Android 9 Pie has to achieve this goal are:

• Adaptive brightness: allows the system to understand the user's brightness preferences depending on the surrounding lighting to adapt it automatically.
• Adaptive battery: uses automatic learning to consume battery only with the applications that will be used in the short term, while limiting the use of this in applications that are used infrequently.

• Slices: shows the highlighted information of an application automatically by typing its name.
• App Actions: this tool is also based on user habits and shows you the activities that you may want to carry out through quick shortcuts.

The new functions that focus on "digital well-being" are:

• Control panel: informs the user the amount of time that remains in the device, the number of times it is unlocked, the number of notifications and the applications that have been used, in order to create a balance between the time spent in the device and the time it uses for other activities.
• Wind Down: aims to facilitate the conciliation of sleep by lighting the "night light" at dusk, and activating the "do not disturb" function, to put the luminosity in gray scale and make it less striking to the eye.
• App Timer: allows the user to set a time limit on the use of applications, which will be closed by the system when the time runs out.

Google argues that simplicity is another feature of this new operating system, because the goal is to be much more accessible and simple to use; that's why it has:

• Start screen: the redesign of the quick configuration allows you to take better screenshots and manage notifications more easily. In addition, it has simplified volume controls and a confirmation button to rotate the screen.

• New navigation system: it has a single start button and the gestures acquire great importance when navigating the interface.
