Leer en español: ¿Cristiano Ronaldo se quedará en el Manchester United?
Cristiano Ronaldo has been one of the best soccer players in history. However, at 37, he may be living the last stretches of his career, as he seems to have little time left before he retires. Now, what has been your recent level? The reality is that it was quite good.
For the 2020-2021 season, he decided to leave Juventus to join Manchester United. This group, which was going through a series of institutional crises, without a renowned coach and with a squad that was far from its glory years. For these reasons, he could not get any title. However, the Portuguese achieved a quite acceptable performance during this year.
In other words, Cristiano Ronaldo scored 18 goals in his 30 appearances, becoming one of the most regular players. The problem is that, for the current season, the English club decided to hire a new manager: Erik Ten Hag, from Ajax in the Netherlands. And what does this have to do with anything? Well, many things, which we will tell you here.

The Situation of CR7 In the United
Although the coach admitted that he will take it into account, since he is a “world star”, Cristiano Ronaldo does not feel entirely sure about his stay at Manchester. Not only because it seems that he will not be a “100% crucial” player, but also because he considers that the club cannot allow him big titles.
Especially because in the current season, Manchester United will not be able to be part of the UEFA Champions League – Cristiano Ronaldo's great goal —, but will only participate in the UEFA Europa League. For this reason, the Portuguese had a rather erratic attitude, since he did not attend the first training sessions.
While Ten Hag admitted that he wants her to come back, he also warned that he “can't wait for her to make up her mind.” And what happened? Cristiano Ronaldo returned to the Manchester United Sports City. He did it accompanied by his agent, Jorge Mendes, with the aim of resolving his stay or departure from the club.
However, everything seems to indicate that Cristiano Ronaldo does not want to stay at Manchester United. His idea is to meet with the Dutch coach, with the aim of communicating his decision. While Ten Hag may try to make him change his stance, CR7 understands that he is near the end of his career and cannot wait two seasons to return to the elite.
The Possible Destinations of CR7
Now, there is another crucial question to consider: if Cristiano Ronaldo leaves Manchester United, where will he go? Well, the situation is quite complex and there are endless rumors, but an alternative that is gaining quite a bit of strength is a transfer, with the aim of calming the waters.
What would this imply? Well, Cristiano Ronaldo renews his contract from 2023 to 2024, but leaving on loan for a season to a team that plays in the UEFA Champions League. Once this loan ends, he could reach United which, depending on his performance, could have qualified for this competition again.
And that is where you begin to speculate on possible destinations. One of the most notorious has been Atlético Madrid, one of the Portuguese's historical rivals. Diego Simeone has always wanted to have his services, but it should be noted that this would imply a drop in salary and the departure of other players.
In addition, the emotional aspect also enters. Cristiano Ronaldo is an idol at Real Madrid and his arrival at the Atlético Madrid will mean some anger, something that could also have happened if he had arrived at FC Barcelona. Although this option has been ruled out, since they have signed Robert Lewandowski.
The other options are a possible arrival at Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Chelsea, or Paris Saint-Germain. In all cases, the problem seems to be that these clubs already have the centre-forward position pretty well covered, which is why they don't seem interested in investing so much money on a player of that nature.
In any case, only time seems to reveal the future of Cristiano Ronaldo. There is only one thing for sure: the striker wants to reach the Qatar World Cup in 2022 at the best level, and this means staying in the elite, to get the long-awaited UEFA Champions League again.
