Mick Schumacher could run in Formula 1 in 2020

The young German racing driver Mick Schumacher did not rule out his participation next year in Formula 1, in statements made in an interview with the Sky television channel.

"Of course, there is still nothing agreed or discussed. We will have to wait to see how the next races are going and then we can say with certainty what will happen next year," said the son of seven times champion Michael Schumacher on the eve of the celebration of the Russian Grand Prix.

Mick Schumacher, currently a Formula 2 driver, said his future "will probably be decided in the coming weeks."

Last year, the 20-year-old driver won the European Formula 3 Championship, which served him both to move on to Formula 2 and to enter the Ferrari Drivers Academy. In April he was able to drive a Ferrari during training after the Bahrain Grand Prix as well as an Alfa Romeo.

In his first season in Formula 2, he has achieved a victory, although at the moment he occupies the eleventh position in the general classification.

The Ferrari team, with which his father won five world championships in the highest international automobile competition, was also convinced of the possibilities of the driver.

"We have invested a lot in him because we believe he can be a good Formula 1 driver," Mattia Binoto, the head of the transalpine team, recently told Sunday's "Bild am Sonntag."

Among the possibilities for Mick Schumacher to participate in Formula 1 next year is that of the Alfa Romeo team, equipped with Ferrari engines, although there is still no specific agreement or schedule in this regard.
