The victory of the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl LIV marked the end of an exciting 100th NFL season, and at the same time officially kicked off the 2020 preseason. In that regard, there are already dates for several events of interest related to the circuit and also with what may be the 2020 draft, to be held between April 23 and 25.

Some information that the NFL made known in relation to the most recent Super Bowl played at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami is that it was observed by 100 million people and that it was also an edition in which the United States became a political battlefield due to the campaign war between Michael Bloomberg and Donald Trump, who did not waste the opportunity to advertise in the 'Super Bowl'.

Also, fun fact, it was the first championship in which Facebook advertised. The debut of a contract that will surely consolidate over the years. While the free agency of this 2020 is warming up, a topic that we will talk more about in detail in the coming weeks in LatinAmerican Post, we bring the dates to be learned in this preseason.

Dates of Interest

The 32 teams that make up the league, mainly players and fans, will be able to rest a little in this offseason, but their leaders are already starting to work based on the important dates of the preseason, which have been designed by the NFL itself. Two important dates of that calendar have passed, on February 3 – the start of the waivers system – which is nothing other than the process by which a team makes available a player to negotiate with any of the other 31 teams.

In turn, last Wednesday, February 11, another process began, the signing of players of the Canadian Football League (CFL) whose contracts were expired or expired in this 2020. Later from February 24 to March 2 they started the tests to enter the National League of American Football in Indianapolis.

The first date for the teams to designate their franchise or transition players began on February 25 and that process will culminate on March 10 . A week later, exactly between March 16 and 18 , the teams contact and negotiate with certified agents of players who will become free agents without restrictions at the expiration of their contracts.

Precisely, on March 18 the contracts end and free agency begins as well as the journey for exchanges. This date has a deadline of 3 o'clock in the afternoon and the teams must be at that time under the salary cap, exercise the 2020 options on the players (if applicable) and submit qualification offers to restricted free agents.

The draft is heated

In relation to the next draft prior to the 2020-21 campaign, the first 10 teams to choose according to their positions in the season have an idea of who could be their choice to reinforce themselves in the coming championship.

The first to do so is Cincinnati Bengals, who is still anchored as a losing team and one of the weakest in the NFL in the last five years, and therefore warn that they could take quarterback Joe Burrow of the University of Louisiana.

Then the Washington Redskins appear , who point to Chase Young of the Ohio State . Detroit Lions, in turn, have their sights set on Jeff Okudah, also from Ohio State. In addition there are the New York Giants, who seem to find in Clemson the man they need after the march of Odeel Beckham Jr., Isaiah Simmons.

Miami Dolphins, another team that does not reach the levels of competitiveness expected several years ago, believe that quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (Alabama) is the one for them. Justin Herbert of Oregon, in turn, is ideal for the Los Angeles Chargers, who totally disappointed in the last campaign when they started as one of the favorites.

Carolina Panthers have a clear candidate in Derrick Brown of Auburn, while the Arizona Cardinals would bet on Jedrick Wills of Alabama. Another disappointing team in the 2019-20 campaign such as the Jacksonville Jaguars would target CeeDee Lamb of Oklahoma. Finally, in that group of 10, the Cleveland Browns would have Mekhi Beckton (Louisville) sealed to strengthen them after considerable improvement in the previous campaign.
