Saturday, July 4, Independence Day was celebrated in the United States amid confinement and the pandemic. Among the events that have taken place in the country, there are also protests regarding Black Lives Matter and the expectation for the presidential campaigns that have not yet started. In the midst of all this and the celebration of the national holiday, the rapper, producer, and fashion designer Kanye West announced on his social networks that he will run for the presidency for this year's elections.

The announcement is accompanied by the phrase: "We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States !" and the hashtag #2020VISION. Not much more has been said about the Kanye West announcement. It is not yet known if his candidacy will be under the militancy of any party or if it will be done independently. The only certainty is that sooner or later the producer will launch his presidential campaign.

Other announcements and political positions
If he were to run for president, Kanye West would be facing the current president of the United States, Donald Trump, who is behind the reelection. In the previous presidential campaign, Kanye demonstrated his support for Trump and was seen on several occasions wearing hats with the then candidate's motto: "Make America Great Again". Thus, his followers wonder if with this announcement he withdraws his support for Donald Trump to embark on his own path to the presidency.
On the other hand, this announcement is not new, although the news that it will be this year. On other occasions, Kanye West had expressed his desire to be President of the United States and in several interviews during the promotion of his religious album "Jesus Is King," he had announced that he would launch for the elections of 2024. Among them, Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla , who recently managed to launch a spacecraft from another of his companies, SpaceX, to a space station. The businessman and billionaire stated on his Twitter account that Kanye West has his full and complete support for this presidential race.
