"Spider-Man: No Way Home" was a cinematic milestone. For the first time, the dream of the fans had been fulfilled: the three versions of the arachnid man were brought together on the same screen: Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield. Now the question is will there be "Spider-Man 4" and "The Amazing Spider-Man 3"?
A new Spider-Man trilogy has been confirmed, but it hasn't been revealed that Tom Holland will return in his role. One of the ideas that resonate is that only one of these 3 new films is starring Tom Holland, while the other remaining correspond to the versions of Andrew and Tobey
Fans have manifested themselves on Twitter asking for the continuation of both sagas. Considering this has worked in the past with Zack Snyder's version of The Justice League, could the same thing happen with Marvel? Here we tell you all the possibilities.
"The Amazing Spider-Man 3"
This is the product that has the most chance of resurfacing. The Marc Webb saga was canceled at the time due to the introduction of Tom Holland's character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Although Andrew Garfield was thought of like the Spider-Man of the MCU, the poor reception of the second film caused Sony to cancel this franchise. However, Sony and Marvel could now be rethinking this situation.
At the time, Andrew Garfield was not a much-loved character. The release of the first film of this saga (2012) was very close to the last film of the original saga, “Spider-Man 3” by Sam Raimi.
That little waiting time between the two tapes, added to some errors in the reboot of the superhero, made the fans never fully accept Andrew Garfield since the shadow of Tobey Maguire was still present. However, this has recently changed.
In "Spider-Man: No Way Home" his character was given an important redemption, to the point of being one of the most outstanding appearances of the film. There it was seen that there was a really wide community that is interested in this superhero. Many fans began calling the continuation of "The Amazing Spider-Man" even before the film was released.
In addition, we have been given some clues about their new conflicts in "Spider-Man: No Way Home", as he revealed that the trauma of his girlfriend's death made him quite violent. If we add to this that Andrew Garfield is not an old actor (he is 38 years old), a continuation where the conflict of his story is shown is very possible.
There is even talk that his character will be the Spider-Man of the Sony Cinematic Universe. In particular, it could be the one who faces Venom in the villain's third film, because in "Spider-Man: No Way Home" he commented that he wanted to face an alien. We'll see if this happens!
This one is a little more complicated than it happens, but not impossible. Unlike Andrew Garfield, who was always interested in returning as Spider-Man, Tobey Maguire seemed "saturated" with the world of superheroes. However, after the good reception of "Spider-Man: No Way Home," everything would indicate that he could return in the future.
However, there are several problems. First of all, its history. Although it was not completely closed, it did have a kind of "end" in the controversial third installment. As so much time has passed since this last filming (2007), it may be difficult to make a fourth film, since some characters, such as Aunt May, may not be seen on screen.
Similarly, the age of the actor (46 years) would make it rare to create an adaptation of an older Peter Parker, with adult life problems. However, it could be a good way to differentiate it from the other films, especially if they focus on his relationship with Mary Jane, as the actress (Kirsten Dunst) said she was interested in reprising the role.
In addition, a not minor fact is that the arachnid character hinted in "Spider-Man: No Way Home" that he continues to have problems with his partner, so a hypothetical continuation could touch on these issues. So what are the possibilities? There is one very prominent element to consider: Sam Raimi's return to superhero movies.
The director, in charge of the character's trilogy, will be in charge of "Doctor Strange 2", which will touch on themes related to the Multiverse. For this reason, it is not ruled out that Tobey Maguire will make a cameo or that there will even be a fourth installment in the future, which was canceled at the time because Sam Raimi himself did not feel confident with the script he had made.
In addition, some comment that Tobey will be in "Morbius", the future film of a Sony villain, since a poster that has the image of this adaptation of the superhero is shown in the trailer. Fans have been asking for a “Spider-Man 4” made by Sam Raimi all over social media.
Which do you think has more possibilities? We hope they can be created in the future!
