Soccer is one of the sports that moves the most money worldwide. For this reason, the transfer market becomes totally relevant for teams that want to modify or improve their squad. However, the value of the players is constantly fluctuating depending on their performance, so they must be constantly monitored.
For the next transfer market, five Latin American players stand out among the 20 footballers with the greatest increase in their market value compared to mid-2022. Two Brazilians, an Argentine, an Ecuadorian, and a Uruguayan are part of the select list. Who are they, how much are they worth, where do they play, and where could they land in the summer market that starts in the middle of the year?
Gabriel Martinelli Burst at Arsenal
Arsenal bet on youth this season, giving ownership to the Brazilian winger Gabriel Martinelli. Consequently, the 21-year-old, who has been with the London club since 2019, has reciprocated that trust with 13 goals. This makes Martinelli Arsenal’s top scorer this season.
Gabriel Martinelli’s season could lead Arsenal to win the Premier League, something that hasn’t happened since the 2003-04 season. For this reason, the Brazilian is the undisputed starter in the ‘Gunners’, which led him to go from being worth 40 million euros in mid-2022 to being worth 70 million euros today. According to the specialized portal Transfermarkt, this increase of 30 million euros places him in 18th position in the ranking of the player with the highest increase in the market.
Federico Valverde Is Quoted
Uruguayan midfielder Federico Valverde has established himself as the undisputed starter for Real Madrid in Spain, where he made his first-team debut in 2018. There, the Uruguayan midfielder has managed to play 190 games, scoring 18 goals and making 12 assists. His regularity, his leadership, and his behavior on the field of play catapulted his career into dizzying heights.
Federico Valverde was worth 70 million euros in mid-2022 and is currently valued at 100 million euros. Not even the football slump suffered by the Uruguayan due to personal problems after the Qatar 2022 World Cup managed to slow down his progression in the market. Therefore, its value increased by 30 million euros, which positions it as the fifteenth player with the greatest increase in its value on the market.
Antony and His Adventure in the Premier League
Ajax Amsterdam agreed to sell one of its top figures to Manchester United of England. For this reason, the Brazilian Antony landed in the ranks of the ‘Red Devils’ in mid-2022 and since then he became the team’s third top scorer this season.
According to Transfermarkt, Antony went from being worth 35 million euros in mid-2022 to being worth 70 million euros today. In other words, the Brazilian winger increased his value by 35 million euros, which leads him to occupy the eleventh position in the ranking of the player with the greatest increase in the market.
Moisés Caicedo Is Valued
Ecuador and Independiente del Valle have forged several promising young players. One of them was Moisés Caicedo, standing out both in his national team and in Brighton in England. His regularity and his good performances caught the attention of some higher level clubs in the last winter market. There, the Ecuadorian midfielder expressed his desire to leave his current club, so England’s Arsenal tried to sign him.

With his failed escape, Caicedo had to renegotiate and resume work with Brighton, continuing his great performance and increasing his value. Now, the Ecuadorian went from being worth six million euros at the beginning of the season to currently being worth 55 million euros. This means an increase of 49 million euros, placing him as the fourth player with the greatest increase in value on the market.
Enzo Fernández Broke the Market
Chelsea of England decided to go on the offensive in the winter market, hiring 8 new players that represented an expense of approximately 360 million euros. Precisely, among these signings, there was the most important for Latin America: that of the Argentine Enzo Fernández. The outstanding participation of the 22-year-old midfielder in the Qatar 2022 World Cup, where he won the Best Young Player award, motivated Chelsea to negotiate with Benfica of Portugal for his transfer.
Finally, the English club disbursed the 121 million euros of the termination clause that the Portuguese club set, for which it took the young Argentine figure. Now, with the good performances that Enzo Fernández achieved with Benfica, with the Argentine National Team and now with Chelsea, his market value went from 15 million euros in mid-2022 to 85 million euros today, according to Transfermarkt .
Therefore, its value increased by 70 million euros, positioning it as the player with the highest increase in the entire market along with the Georgian footballer from Napoli, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
There are still several months of competition in which more Latin American footballers such as the Argentines Julián Álvarez (position 21), Alexis Mac Allister (22), Alejandro Garnacho (30) and Lisandro Martínez (54), the Brazilians Gabriel Jesús (25), Vinicius Junior (35), Rodrygo (38), Bruno Guimarães (39) and Endrick (49), and the Uruguayan Darwin Núñez (62) can improve their performance to increase their value. Thus, they could renegotiate better contracts in their teams or to change the air where they are guaranteed better conditions.
