Considered by many as the best Mexican player in history, the 39-year-old defender could play in Russia 2018. The long-lived Egyptian goalkeeper could make history in Russia 2018. If Essam El-Hadary disputes a single minute in the World Cup, he will become the oldest player to play in a World Cup, because with his 45 years and five months he would snatch the record that since 2014 has the Colombian Faryd Mondragón, who obtained it when playing with 43 years and 3 days of age.

The ownership of Essam El-Hadary is almost a fact due to the serious injury of the goalkeeper of Egypt, Ahmed El Shenawy. El-Hadary is the third player with the most matches played with the Egypt team with 143 games. Russia 2018 will be the first World Cup for Egypt since Italy 1990, so this will be the first FIFA World Cup in which Essam El-Hadary will participate. The long-serving goalkeeper currently plays for Al-Taawoun FC of Saudi Arabia.
