But before giving more details about this year, it is worth remembering what Disney + Day is about and since when it has been celebrated. For those who don't know yet, this event premiered in 2021 as a result of the second birthday of the streaming platform. During that day (November 12), multiple activities were carried out, which were backed by an extensive marketing campaign.

In addition to the numerous announcements and premieres of movies and series from the different production companies, the event featured interesting promotions: discounts for new Disney+ subscribers, special benefits at the Disney parks, as well as offers on the different programs and places associated with the company. All this will be repeated in 2022 and promises to exceed expectations.

Premieres to enjoy

Disney+ Day is a day-long celebration for the whole family to enjoy. It is not exactly an event with a live broadcast, since the strength of everything goes through the content to be released by streaming. However, the company is also expected to announce several surprises outside its platform with trailers and previews of other productions, most of them on Disney's social networks.

Among the highlights is the live action of "Pinocchio", an adaptation directed by Robert Zemeckis and starring Tom Hanks as Geppetto. The film will retell the story of the wooden puppet that comes to life to try to become a real boy. It is worth adding that this is the eighteenth live action released by Disney.

Likewise, another film that lands on the platform during Disney + Day is "Thor: Love and Thunder". The fourth installment of the Marvel superhero was released in theaters in July and managed to collect more than $ 700 million dollars at the box office, a figure that failed to surpass its predecessor. This time, the god of thunder must defeat a dangerous new villain with the help of Valkyrie, Krog and Mighty Thor/Jane Foster.

Regarding the series, "Tierra Incógnita" is emerging as the one that will draw the most attention during the month. Developed in Argentina, the plot follows a young man who searches for the clues of the strange disappearance of his parents, although during the expedition he will end up arriving at a mysterious place. The production directed by Sebastián Pivotto has 8 episodes.

In turn, for the little ones, adventures will return at full speed with "Cars on the Road". The 9-part series will bring back Lightning McQueen, who together with Mater will start a new journey to reach a wedding. However, during the long journey, they will encounter various obstacles that they will have to overcome, in addition to meeting new characters and living great experiences.

For their part, documentaries will also play an important role on Disney + Day. The platform will premiere "Epic Adventures with Bertie Gregory", which are the wild experiences of a young explorer around the world; "Growing up," which for 10 episodes will explore the complexities that adolescence represents; and "Obi-Wan Kenobi: Return of the Jedi," which will feature previously unseen footage and interviews about the series set in the "Star Wars" universe.

Lastly, "The Simpsons: Welcome to the Club" will be the fourth short to be added to their roster and will follow Lisa as she tries to become a princess, but discovers that being a villain can sometimes be fun. While the special "Marvel Studios United: Creating Thor: Love and Thunder" will be added to the other 6 chapters of the documentary series that explores behind the scenes and secrets of Phase 4 of the MCU.

D23, the perfect complement

As mentioned before, September 8th is just the beginning of a magical week for Disney. The next day, the D23 Expo will begin, an event that is held every two years and is focused on everything related to the company. Since 2009 it has been organized and held at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California, although it has been held three times at the Tokyo Disney Resort in Japan.

The activities for this edition of the D23 will once again be varied and a large public presence is expected, since it had to be postponed last year due to the pandemic. Awards ceremony, stores with exclusive products, exhibitions, contests for fans, among others, will be part of the various events that are scheduled. Beyond that, what many expect are the new announcements that Marvel Studios will give about their upcoming productions. A week to remember!
