Summer is here and with it a well-deserved vacation. While some enjoy trips to the beach or mountains, others prefer to rest completely at home, a tempting premise when streaming platforms bring a wave of unmissable premieres. For this edition we present 7 productions that navigate between action, comedy, suspense, terror and fiction. These are the most anticipated titles from Netflix, HBO Max, Prime Video, Apple TV, Hulu, Paramount+ and Disney+!
"Prey" (August 5 – Hulu and Star+)
The "Predator" franchise presents a new film that promises to surpass what was seen in the six previous installments. This prequel is set 300 years ago in the Comanche Nation (where the Comanche Native American tribe lived), and features a fierce and skilled warrior named Naru. Despite living in the shadow of her tribe's hunters, she will be the one to protect her people from a highly evolved alien threat that will make them look like easy prey.
"The Sandman" (August 5 – Netflix)
The most anticipated production of August on Netflix mixes drama and action with dark fantasy and contemporary fiction. The series is based on the comics written by Neil Gaiman, which have Morpheus (the god of dreams) as the protagonist. Here we will follow the people and places that were affected by this entity as he tries to right the cosmic mistakes he made during his life.
"News of a Kidnapping" (August 12 – Amazon Prime Video)
Another of the impressive books by the writer Gabriel García Márquez will have its adaptation for streaming. This Colombian production will have 6 episodes and among its protagonists are Cristina Umaña and Juan Pablo Raba, whose characters will be of vital importance in a plot based on real events about the kidnappings of several important personalities by a group founded by Pablo Escobar a early 90's.

"She-Hulk: Attorney at Law" (August 17 – Disney+)
After the debut of Ms. Marvel in the MCU, now it's the turn of another superheroine: She-Hulk. This time we will meet Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany), a lawyer who specializes in cases involving superhumans. However, after receiving a blood transfusion from her cousin Bruce Banner, she will become a green and stronger version of herself, something that will further complicate her life along with the appearance of a powerful rival named Titania.
"Orphan: First Kill" (August 19 – Paramount+)
Do you remember Esther, the murderous "girl" from the movie "The Orphan" (2009)? This feature film is presented as a prequel to his story to explore his origins and what his first murder was like. After escaping from a psychiatric facility in Estonia, Leena Klammer changes her name to Esther, moves to America and poses as the missing daughter of Tricia and Allen Albright, a wealthy family. However, little by little her lie will fall apart and she will face a mother who will do whatever it takes to protect her family.
"House of the Dragon" (August 21 – HBO Max)
The expectations around this prequel have been gigantic since it was announced that it would arrive on the HBO Max platform. The 10-episode series is based on the book "Fire and Blood" by George RR Martin, and is set 200 years before what we already saw during the 8 seasons of "Game of Thrones". Here we will follow the history of the Targaryen House, which is led by Viserys I, King of the Seven Kingdoms, who will have problems with his reign even with his own family, since Rhaenyra and Aegon will lead a civil war for the throne.
"See" (Aug 26 – Apple TV)
The third and final season of one of the most successful series on Apple TV promises to be tremendous. The post-apocalyptic science fiction story takes place in a future where humanity lost its sense of sight, so they had to find different ways to survive. For this last batch of chapters we will witness how Baba Voss (Jason Momoa) will have to deal with some challenges, among which is a new weapon with vision that will threaten the future of his tribe.
