The monarch of the United Kingdom has passed away. She was the queen from her accession to the throne in 1952, until her death last week. This implies that Elizabeth was in power for 70 years, making her the longest reigning British monarch, surpassing Queen Victoria.

And, while we wait to see the coronation of his son, Carlos III, it may be a good time to review her history. And it is possible to do it through a great series! As you can imagine, it is "The Crown", released in 2016, which became one of the most expensive and one of the most popular series on Netflix.

So far, it has 4 seasons, each of 10 episodes. The plot covers the life of the queen, but also the country, politics, and the secrets of the entire royal family, throughout different generations. That is to say, we see how she grows up, gets old, and struggles with all the situations that occur on a daily basis, family and political.

Well, it is rumored that there will be 2 more seasons. However, season 5 could be delayed. It would come out in November of this year, but the queen's death put production on hold, as a sign of respect for what her figure symbolizes.

But why is "The Crown" so good? Well, first of all, it's the budget. It is the series that generates the most expenses for Netflix and it is considered that, per episode, there is an average value of 13 million dollars. For this reason, we see impeccable work in terms of period characterization, with incredible outfits and locations.

On the other hand, its photography and direction are impeccable. Each shot is taken care of down to the smallest detail, to the point that, at times, it seems that we are watching a movie.

And what about its plot? Well, they represent reality in the best possible way through fiction, to the point that the British family has shown its "discontent" in the representation of some historical problems, especially those that relate to the most intimate issues of the royal family.

"The Crown" does not seek to please anyone, but instead seeks to represent the reality of political (and family) events with the greatest possible authenticity. The choice of actors has been the right one, since not only do they look alike physically, but they also masterfully interpret the attitudes of each one.

Another of the great successes of "The Crown" is that the series is divided into 3 historical stages, with a change of actors. The first and second seasons take place between 1947 and 1964. Then, the third and fourth take place between 1964 and 1990. This would show us that, from the fifth, they will show the old age of the queen.

Another spectacular point is that we can understand the story through each season, along with the alternation between the Labor Party and the Conservative Party. For example, in the first, we see that Winston Churchill assumed his second term and had to face criticism from society and the opposition.

It helps to understand what the specific functions of the queen are. At first, she seemed uncomfortable with her position and even undervalued. However, as her reign progresses, she becomes more and more powerful and overcomes all her fears.

In conclusion, "The Crown" is a masterful series, which has become one of the best political productions in history. If you want to discover what the reign of Elizabeth II was like and how the different personal and political conflicts occurred during the monarchy, you should see it. It's available on Netflix!
