The politician has broken the glass ceiling not only for women but also for communities of all races to aspire to the great American dream. Harris, of an Indian mother and a Jamaican father, has had an arduous but successful journey.
Strong Indian Roots
There are many inspirations that Kamala Harris had, like Maya Harris, her sister. However, Shyamala Gopalan, her mother, is the most significant influence in her life. Joe Biden decided to choose Harris as his running mate because she will make a vital difference to the African and Indian communities.
The Indian community played a major role in the type of funds they managed to raise for the US presidential race. That is where Harris was critical and crucial in these elections.
The vice president has always talked about her Indian roots. That comes from none other than Shyamala Gopalan, the woman who at 19 on a whim left India for the United States of America. Kamala's mother is a confident woman who met her husband at the University of California, Berkeley.
A Family With Solid Values
Kamala Harris's parents were part of the civil rights movements when they were students in the 1960s and 1970s. Although very few members of the Indian community would participate, Kamala's mother was there expressing her concern about oppression and the struggle for equal rights. This is where politics really gets its human rights activism from.

Kamala's uncle, a highly respected academic in her country, Professor Balachandran, told India Today that Harris's two most important influences had been her mother and maternal grandfather. He also said that when it comes to the relations between India and the United States, Kamala will be a good vice president to improve relations between the two countries.
The Kamala Harris Effect
There is no senator or even a president who can influence and change the ties between Indo and the United States with the relations of the two countries and how strong they are. However, this seems possible for Kamala.
Minority problems will be something that could cause the Indian government to confront the position taken by Kamila Harris. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of India, was traveling to the United States. He refused to meet with Congresswoman Jayapal due to the resolution she had adopted on Kashmir.
Senator Kamala Harris had strongly criticized Dr. Jaishankar for blocking the congresswoman, saying that she should have met everyone and that concerns should be heard.
She will take a position not so much on the decision on Article 370, which is in the internal politics of India, but on the freedoms in Kashmir, and that is where that could harm the Indian administration.
A New Age
Kamala is called by many the female version of Barack Obama. Harris also identifies herself as a black woman. Like Obama, a mixed-race heritage allowed Harris to connect through identities and reach multiple audiences.
During her 2020 presidential campaign, she vowed to lift the national green card cap. However, she sparked controversy when she said: "We have to remind the people of Kashmir that they are not alone in the world."
This statement was made during his election campaign in 2019 when India removed section 370. Sikh activists in the US alleged that during his tenure as California Attorney General, Harris championed a policy that prohibited state prison officials from keeping beards for religious reasons. Although there were exceptions to this policy for medical reasons, Harris has also remained critical of the Modi government.
The main concerns will be considered human rights issues, as Kamala Harris is a staunch human rights activist. Undoubtedly, with the arrival of Kamala and its undeniable acceptance in the political and social spheres, it is demonstrated that a new era has arrived in the United States of America with an undeniable global impact.
