Every year, Colombia becomes the center of the fashion design competition Latinoamérica Habla for Latin-American students aiming for a place in the fashion industry.
The contest makes part of the commercial exhibition for the next edition of Colombiamoda, in Medellin. This as an encouragement opportunity for fashion Latin American students.
In total, 73 inscriptions were received. Thre eight edition of the contest already has its 15 finalist. They are all student from Colombia, Chile, Argentina, Guatemala and Ecuador.
The selection process was in the hands of Carmen Vásquez, fashion journalist in the “El Mundo” magazine; Blanca Lucía Echavarría, teacher at the Universidad Pontifica Bolivariana and Alexandra Hoyos, blogger and premium brands designer and product developer for “Grupo Uribe”.
To rate the students projects, the judges took into account the next criteria: Accurate image exploration; coherence; materials and silhouette innovation
Three of the finalists will be awarded. The first place will get a school year in the Marangoni Institute; the second place a trip to NY and the third place will get the opportunity to work for Totto and will also receive a fashion software.
In less words, this is one of the multiple programmes Latin American countries are developing to incentive and promote young people and new ideas.
