The Táchira born star reached national fame with the character of Cacique in the telenovela Cosita Rica , which ran from September 2003 to August 2004 with a total of 270 episodes. From there, Edgar did not miss the opportunities that gradually came to him, mainly on the big screen. And it is that after his debut in Venezuelan cinema he was able to show all his talent in Hollywood, when he co-starred in the 2005 film Domino by director Tony Scott.

As we know that he is one of the most sought-after Latin American actors of the moment, here we bring you a list of productions that you cannot miss from him, whether as the main protagonist, secondary, in film or on television. To enjoy!

Carlos

It is a French miniseries -or movie for television- by director Olivier Assayas that tells part of the life of the terrorist Carlos the Jackal. Edgar's performance was so magnificent that it earned him the César Award for Most Promising Actor, during the French César Awards in 2011. In fact, in that same year, Carlos won the Golden Globe for Best Miniseries or Television movie.

Right in my sights

With a cast of great cinema figures, this 2008 film unfolds in a unique way that captivates the viewer. The plot unites the points of view of the different characters during the same event, which takes place in the Plaza Mayor of Salamanca (Spain) and with the president of the United States as the objective. Here, Edgar plays Javier, a person who is commissioned to kidnap the president who is in a hotel room with his assistants.

Deliver us from evil

Even in the horror genre we can also see his quality in front of the screen. This 2014 American film has Edgar and Eric Bana as the protagonists of some events based on the real life of Ralph Sarchie, a policeman who dedicated himself to paranormal investigations. Here, the Venezuelan plays Father Joe Mendoza, who helps Ralph exorcise a demon from a man.

American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace

This is the second season of the FX crime anthology series released in 2018. With a total of 9 episodes, this chronicles the murder of legendary designer Gianni Versace at the hands of serial killer Andrew Cunanan. It is precisely Edgar who plays Versace and he does it in a wonderful way, despite the fact that the series revolves more about the murderer than about the Italian himself.

Liberator

If a biographical film of Simón Bolívar had to be made with an extraordinary production between several countries, without a doubt, Edgar should have the main role. It had a great contribution from the old continent for its realization, which is why several Spanish and British artists said they were present in this film that premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in 2013 . Part of Liberator's narrative goes through his descent into a decaying Europe and his return to the American continent to start the military campaigns associated with the wars of Independence.

Stone hands

Another biographical film, something Edgar has been very good at. On this occasion, he places himself in the skin and life of the legendary Panamanian boxer Roberto Durán, who was in the ring for more than 30 years. "Hand of Stone", as he is known worldwide, beat Sugar Ray Leonard in 1980 to claim the World Boxing Council welterweight title. Robert De Niro, Ana de Armas and Rubén Blades also starred in this 2016 film.

Breaking point

By 2015, the remake of the 1991 film Point Break, starring Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves at the time, hit theaters. In this new version loaded with much more adventure and action, we see Edgar as Bodhi, the leader of a gang that steals money and jewels to distribute with the poorest, as well as being a group of extreme athletes who seek to master the challenges of the myth " Ozaki eight ". It should be noted that at the end of the film a reference is made to Venezuela with the Angel Falls, the highest waterfall in the world.

Joy

Loaded with much drama and with a spectacular cast with Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro, the Venezuelan actor has a supporting but important role. Based on the life of Joy Mangano, a female entrepreneur who eventually became the president of Ingenious Designs, LLC. On this occasion, Edgar takes on the role of Tony Miranne, a Venezuelan classmate of Joy's, whom he later marries and later divorces.
