Since the launch of Disney +, the platform has been filled with original premieres, short films, Pixar productions, and live-actions for families who can enjoy their programming with their children. Here are the most anticipated Disney remakes to watch in 2021.
Emma Stone will perform Disney's second live-action. It is an origin story set in London in the 70s with clear influences from the music and theater scene. I, Tonya's Craig Gillespie, directs while Emma Thompson, Mark Strong, Paul Walter Hauser, and Joel Fry are co-stars. What a cast! Cruella de Vil is the main antagonist in the 1956 novel by English author Dodie Smith The Hundred and One Dalmatians. The character is also a Disney fan-favorite villain, and they're eager to see Best Actress Oscar winner Emma Stone bring her to life.
The Little Mermaid
Another Disney live-action adaptation that set the internet on fire with controversy is The Little Mermaid. Lin-Manuel Miranda tries to do for Ariel what he did for Alexander Hamilton: give the main character a new approach. Halle Bailey is a singer and member of the R&B duo of her and her sister Chloe Bailey. Beyoncé hired the sisters, Chloe x Halle, for her record company. Although some people are not comfortable seeing a black Ariel, expectations are high as Disney chose Halle for her talent and beautiful voice.

The adaptation features The Amazing Spider-Man director Marc Webb and The Girl on the Train screenwriter Erin Cressida Wilson. Rose Red tells the story of when Snow White is knocked unconscious after biting into a poisonous apple. Her sister is forced to go on a quest with the dwarves to find a way to break the curse and bring Snow White back to life.
Peter Pan's live-action is getting closer and closer to reality. Disney confirmed that they already have their Tinker Bell for the new David Lowery movie, Peter-Pan, and Wendy. This is Yara Shahidi, who joins the cast with Jude Law, Alexander Molony, and Ever Anderson.
The 1953 Disney animated classic remains the most successful adaptation of JM Barrie's novel about Peter Pan and the lost children of "Never Land," a place where adults don't exist. This will be the first time in history that a woman of color has played the iconic character.
Disney fans have new news to celebrate: the company officially announced that it is already working on Hercules' live-action version. The film based on the Greek myth, released in 1997, will return to the big screen with this new installment, as confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter site. Fans have been requesting that Ariana Grande stars in Hercules' love interest Megara. However, she has not signed up to play the role.
