It is estimated that 90% of current jobs require some type of digital competence, which reflects that a large part of these link professionals specialized in technology and digital skills who make creative, critical, and safe use of the so-called Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs).

Johanna Rodríguez Moreno, Professional Human Talent Specialist from her experience in Human Resources at the Digital Agency Adbid Latinoamerica S.A.S, talks about the importance of digital skills in current employability in companies: “we are in a world of constant changes where it is necessary for part of potential candidates not only for learning but also for the continuous reinforcement of this type of technological tools, precisely because of the need that the digital field has to offer better results to optimize time for customers and strengthen digital skills, which allows improving job performance.”

Digital competence does not consist only in knowing how to use conventional digital tools, but also in making critical, safe, and creative use of new technologies and discovering the opportunities they offer us.

When asking the specialist Johanna Rodríguez about how working life has changed with the use of skills, she thinks that “it is an important factor considering that digital skills allow people who aspire to a position to join in a much more practical way and receptive in the acquisition of new learning related to this aspect, in fact, its application has improved employability taking into account that it encourages good practices at the labor level and can be taken as a reference for growth and professionalism.”

Soft Skills in the Digital Era

The digital mentality goes beyond the knowledge of new technologies, it is based on the attitude to know how to function in them. According to the report "The Importance of Soft Skills in a Digital World", published by Adecco, 59% of recruiters find it difficult to find soft skills among job candidates.

But, what are the digital Soft Skills that are sought in the world of work?

These are some:

1. Adaptability to change, looking for alternatives, and being willing to make mistakes.

2. Critical thinking: decisions based on data

3. Complex communication through technical conceptualization.

4. Collaboration: responsible and assertive feedback.

5. Ability to solve problems

Gender Does Not Matter

Technology and digital inclusion are tools that allow us to face the labor market and contribute to equal opportunities. "I believe that nowadays there is no gender bias, although people who aspire to a position related to new technologies have the same probability of participating in the processes, soft and hard skills are the factors that influence continuity or not to be used,” concludes specialist Johanna Rodríguez.
