The Italian league has always been characterized by having a great diversity of historical and competitive clubs, and AS Roma is one of them. Although the luck has not accompanied the team in several moments, the club has known to reinvent itself to fight in the high positions of the competitions. The red club of the Italian capital won its last Serie A title in 2001 and since then it has been runner-up nine times.

The team's record in the Italian Cup and the Italian Super Cup is similar, as its last Cup title was in 2008 and its last Super Cup title was in 2007, achieving two runners-up in each competition after lifting the trophies. The club has been modest when it comes to signing players and it has had regular campaigns. However, its greatest merit has been to take advantage of the historic sporting crash of the A.C. Milan and Inter Milan, and to face the high level of Juventus and Napoli.

Currently, Roma is third in the Serie A and has just made it to the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals, after 10 years without success. The team led by the Italian Eusebio Di Francesco, and whose figures are the Bosnian Edin Džeko, the Italian Daniele De Rossi, and the Belgian Radja Nainggolan, have maintained the level that the team has shown for years. For this reason, the squad continues to stay in the fight to get titles.

Prudent shopping, power, and competition

The Roman club has distinguished itself in the last decade for not bringing signings of renown but for empowering them in such a way that makes players prolific and effective players. In this way, the squad manages to compete face to face against the great players of their rivals.

The squad has managed to fight against Juventus and Napoli, empowering players like the Argentines Diego Perotti and Federico Fazio, the Serbian Aleksandar Kolarov, the Greek Manolas, the Dutch Strootman, and the Frenchman Gonalons. None of them being a world star.

The club also adopted the strategy of recovering great figures that dragged a low level, as it is the case of the Italian El Shaarawy, the Brazilian Juan Jesus, and the Bosnian Edin Džeko, the latter being one of the current pillars of the team.

The team has a process of regularity that has kept it at the top of the table competing against the best. Roma will certainly not win the 'Scudetto', but it will continue with its methodology hoping to one day obtained the much-desired title.

For now, the team is one of the leaders of Italy and it will face FC Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals. In Serie A, the squad will defend its third position. Roma remain in the fight and will certainly give some blows to their biggest rivals.
