2020 was a great year in musical terms, especially for Latin America. Spotify itself mentioned that Latin music "broke all listening records", with the consolidation of renowned artists, as happened in the case of Bad Bunny, which was positioned as the most listened to in 2020.
We are constantly listening to new Latin American artists who reach world fame rapidly. We decided to review all the Latin American singers who stood out during 2020 and who managed, in one way or another, to consolidate themselves in the region and on the planet.
Nathy Peluso
The Argentine artist did not go unnoticed this year, quite the contrary. At first, she was accused of "cultural appropriation", since both her musical rhythms and her own way of expressing herself refer to Caribbean cultures, while she is an Argentine based in Spain.
However, it did not end there. During this year she released her album Calambre, which showed a lot of urban genres, but also with other characteristic sounds of Latin America: tango, salsa and, obviously, hip-hop.
She also appeared in the COLORS sessions, where she performed her single Sana Sana, which was a hit on social media due to the eccentric way she moves, sings, and gestures. Likewise, Bizarrap decided to include it in their Music Session # 36, which Billboard mentions had achieved tremendous success, with more than 40 million views on YouTube.

Another of the important appearances within the Latin American urban scene. At just 20 years old, the Argentinan began to stand out thanks to the release of an authentic hit: "High". In its first version, the song achieved more than 55 million views on YouTube, but it all exploded a few months ago, when a new version came out.
Thanks to the participation of Tini and Lola Indigo, the remix reached 83 million views on YouTube. Therefore, people began to comment on social media about the two versions, arguing which one seemed better, at the same time that his name began to climb in the genre, all while waiting for his next musical work.

The Puerto Rican also began to have enormous popularity during this last time. Although he already had a career, this urban artist released Aphrodisíaco, his new studio album that reached first place on Apple Music's Latin Albums chart, in addition to being second on the global list of new Spotify albums.
By having collaborations with renowned urban artists, such as Zion & Lennox, Wisin & Yandel, Farruko, Camilo or Arcángel, his name began to be on everyone's lips. So much so that his song "Reloj", in which Anuel AA collaborates, is one of the most popular hits on musical platforms and that they position him as one of the most important singers of this era.
Thunder
Here we see how freestyle began to creep further into the recording industry. The winner of the FMS Argentina 2019 is one of the most important artists of the competitions in the Batallas de los Gallos, but the truth is that he decided to enter as a much more complete artist.
He did this through Atrevido, an album that caused a sensation among all Latino fans, becoming number 1 in the trends of music streaming platforms. In this way, he managed to give rap a new life, which he knew how to combine with genres as diverse as rock.
Hopefully 2021 will also fill us with important Latin American artists to follow.
