Fifa made the final decision on the controversial case of Bryon Castillo. The soccer entity ratified Ecuador again after a second hearing that took place on September 15, after the associations of Peru and Chile sued, seeking the detriment of the Tricolor.

“The FIFA Appeal Committee has ruled on the appeals filed by the Chilean Football Federation (FFCH) and the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) against the decision adopted by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee regarding the possible breach of Byron David Castillo Segura of the call criteria to participate with the national team”,  FIFA reported.

The entity also assured that Castillo "should be considered a holder of permanent Ecuadorian nationality."

Thus, now the case of Bryon Castillo is subject to appeal that the claimants may present before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAS). However, with this news, Ecuador's participation in the 2022 Qatar World Cup is practically assured.

The president of the Ecuadorian Football Federation spoke on social networks regarding the decision. "In silence, we continue to defend what we have won on the field," he said.

Byron Castillo played a total of 8 games with Ecuador during the World Cup qualifiers for Qatar. He also played a total of 560 minutes. Right now, he is in Liga MX, playing for Club León FC and has amassed 1 goal and two assists in 14 games.
