The best scorers outside the main leagues in Europe (part one)

When we talk about European players, we are used to talking about the main leagues. The top 5 (England, Germany, Spain, Italy, and France) are becoming more and more powerful, as the earnings of these clubs represent 75% of that of all the top European divisions.

However, over the years we have seen that some star figures, such as Mario Mandžukić, Erling Haaland or Robert Lewandowski (the current best soccer player on the planet), emerged and settled in the most important teams of these little known leagues. Therefore, we decided to review all those scorers who are causing a sensation in those countries and who could soon move on to better institutions.

Patson Daka (Red Bull Salzburg – Austria)

One of the main reliefs of soccer in Europe. The Zambian striker, a figure in Austrian soccer, is one of the main targets of Liverpool and Manchester United in the Premier League, who are fighting for him to reinforce the offense for next season.

With an approximate market value of 20 million euros, he can work as a center forward, but also on the wings, due to his speed. His goal quota is incredible: he has, so far, 24 goals in the same number of games played.

Arthur Cabral (Basel – Switzerland)

Now we move to Swiss soccer. More specifically, to one of the most important clubs in that country, such as Basel. Here is a widely prominent player: Arthur Cabral, a Brazilian who has a market value of approximately 8 million euros and who quickly became the figure of local soccer.

The truth is that, at 22 years old, he is having an impressive scoring quota. The OPOVO Online media indicated that he became the Brazilian with the most goals of the season among the 55 European leagues. At 1.86 meters, it would come as no surprise if he is quickly a fixture of their selection or that he can move up to a higher level team.

Paul Onuachu (KRC Genk – Belgium)

Another of the most important talents that can be found outside the top 7 of the European leagues. The 26-year-old Nigerian, who is more than 2 meters tall, is doing wonders in Belgian soccer, where he shows that power can come from an incredible scoring quota.

With a market value that is estimated at 17 million euros, the truth is that it will not be long before one of the greats of the top teams in Europe will join their ranks. Precisely, not every day you see a forward with a similar height, but who also knows how to fit 29 goals in 33 games played.

Youssef El-Arabi (Olympiacos FC – Greece)

Unlike the previous ones, here we come across a somewhat more experienced player, who had already had experience in some teams in the main leagues in Europe. At 34, the Moroccan professional can boast of having played in some competitive league teams, such as SM Caen of France and Granada CF of Spain.

However, since his arrival in 2019 at Olympiacos in Greece, he began to have a superlative performance that, at least until then, he had not had. In 2020 he became the top scorer in the local Super League. Currently, the forward, who can also play winger, has 19 goals in 23 games.

Ramón Miérez (NK Osijek – Croatia)

Here we have a player who is also performing quite unexpectedly. The 23-year-old Argentine had had irregular steps in Tigre from his homeland, Tenerife from Spain and Deportivo Alavés, also from that country. Precisely, this last club owns its file and decided, hoping to make the investment count and gain confidence, transfer it to NK Osijek of Croatia, where it had also traveled in NK Istra.

No one would expect that he would quickly become one of the figures. With 20 goals in 27 games, he became one of the surprises, not only for his new team, but also for the owner of his pass. He will probably return to Deportivo Alavés in Spain when the season ends, where he may have more opportunities to become a Latin American star.
