The Rock Al Parque 2022 edition is destined to remain in the history of the festival. This November 26 began the first of two weekends in which Bogotá will be vibrating to the rhythm of rock. 87 groups will perform in what is one of the most important rock events in Latin America.
For this year the poster is led by top-level acts such as Love Of Lesbian, Bajofondo, Francisca Valenzuela, La Maldita Vencindad y Los Hijos del 5° Patio, Ximena Sariñana, Las Ligas Menores, among others. For Colombia, the representation is commanded by 1280 Almas, Nepentes, Masacre, and Krönös, in addition to the district bands that won the call to be present.
Rock Al Parque remains one of the banners of public festivals in the region. It is almost unique given the recognition and validity that it has achieved without having to resort to monetization by bringing international artists. However, in several Latin American countries, several events are also looking for a place among the best of the cultural offer.
Below, we present five public festivals in Latin America that have been gaining some respect in the entertainment industry. These events can be comparable to the magnitude of the festival held in the Simón Bolívar Park in Bogotá.
Festival Nuevas Bandas, Venezuela
When people wonder where groups such as Los Amigos Invisibles, Desorden Público, Rawayana, or the artist Irepelusa came from, they have to refer to this event. The Festival Nuevas Bandas was founded in 1991 to promote emerging artists in Venezuela. Celebrities such as Juanes, Revolber or Enrique Bunbury have also passed through it, to name a few. It is one of the oldest in Latin America and is still valid.
Like Rock Al Parque in Colombia, this Chilean festival -which takes place in Valparaíso- is the most important in the country. It has been financed with money from the Chilean Ministry of Culture since 2004 and for 2022 in its 18th edition, it will have Javiera Mena, Los Jaivas, Los Tres, or Camila Moreno on its poster. The event will be held from December 15 to 18.

Ciudad Emergente, Argentina
In October it celebrated 15 editions and as a festival, it goes beyond music. In it, you can find literary proposals, performances, fashion, gastronomy, and sports. However, this festival seeks to promote emerging singers and bands to offer them a platform. Among the featured genres are rock, pop, urban, and indie. The last edition welcomed more than 100 bands and is also led by the cultural portfolio of Buenos Aires.
Afuera Fest, Peru
Although it is one of the newer festivals compared to those already mentioned, it has acquired a singular respect derived from its format. One of the points to highlight is that it takes place on the outdoor terrace of the Gran Teatro Nacional in Lima between February and March. The variety also shines with genres that go from salsa to rock and that go through classical music, always giving prevalence to Peruvian talent.
Festival de Rock Sinaloa, Mexico
Along with Rock Al Parque, it is one of the oldest festivals with a validity of 25 years. This year it takes place from December 2 to 10 and at the moment it is in the phase of calls for local bands that want to be part of it. In its last edition, the Spanish Ed Maverick was presenting and despite a host of speculations in which there was uncertainty about its realization, this 2022 is reborn.
