After the colonizing processes of various European countries, many pre-Columbian treasures are found today in European museums. Despite the constant requests from Latin American governments to request the repatriation of these priceless pieces, it is a complicated issue.

Although several Latin American treasures have been stolen and recovered, there are also several important world art treasures that are now in the possession of former colonial powers. Among the most outstanding are: the Venus de Milo; The Greek Parthenon Marbles; the Ishtar Gate or the bust of Nefertiti, among others.
