Last Sunday, the death of Kobe Bryant, a former Los Angeles Lakers player, was made official in a helicopter accident in which he was transported with his 13-year-old daughter Gigi, who also died in the unfortunate incident. Together with the basketball player and his daughter, seven other people died. His death, much lamented by many, inspired, among other things, a new song by Puerto Rican Bad Bunny in which he pays homage. On the other hand, this event has also revived the debate about the rape accusations that the athlete faced in 2003 and whose charges were dropped after reaching an economic agreement with the victim.

Weekly, the case of Harvey Weinstein, who faces five criminal charges including a rape charge and others of sexual harassment, is progressing. This week Dawn Dunning, a waitress, and aspiring actress, testified against Weinstein. She narrated in court the meetings in hotels she had with the producer, in which he harassed her and offered her papers in exchange for sex. The witness cried during the presentation of her testimony. If convicted, Weinstein must be sentenced to life in prison.

3. Sundance Film Festival

The Sundance Film Festival is currently taking place, which began on January 23 and runs until January 2. In this festival, as usual, fiction films and documentaries competing in several categories divided into American and international cinema. There will also be a sample of new productions and short films. So far, the most popular news of the Sundance is that the Palm Spring movie has broken the best-selling record in the Sundance for 69 cents.
4. The Oscars presenters are announced
Since last year, the Academy Awards will no longer have a host, the announcement of the awards presenters has caused a stir. This week the producers of the ceremony announced that Zazie Beetz, Timothée Chalamet, Will Ferrell, Gal Gadot, Mindy Kaling, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Anthony Ramos, Mark Ruffalo, Kelly Marie Tran, and Kristen Wiig will be on the list of those who will deliver statuettes. None of these names is nominated in the best performing categories, but they do act or participate in some of the nominated productions.
