Everything you need to know about Lo Nuestro awards 2020

Lo Nuestro Awards, held since 1989, are the oldest awards when it comes to Latin music. They are delivered by the Univisión television network and are awarded to the best of Latin music or made by Latinos every year. This year will be held on February 20 and the nominees for these awards are already known.

This week the television network Univisión made public its intention to give the reggaeton singer from Medellín J Balvin the recognition of  World Icon, which is granted to Latin artists who have reached an international fame that transcends the borders of the cotinent and the Hispanic world and that have left a positive mark. For Univisión, this is the case of J Balvin, who has decided to honor him in the next installment of Lo Nuestro.

In addition to transcending language and geographic barriers, J Balvin has also been a key element in the entertainment world to raise awareness about depression, anxiety and other mental and emotional diseases.

This is why, according to Univisión, he deserves this recognition that has also been granted to other Latinos such as Daddy Yankee and Ricky Martin. To be a World Icon, you must not only be famous, but also, according to Univision, a positive impact must be made on the influence of the award-winning artist.

The reggaeton singer will be present on the stage of the Lo Nuestro awards not only to receive this recognition but also to interpret some of his latest hits, which will be part of an album he hopes to release this year. The artist also has several nominations for these awards that celebrate the best of Latin music.
